On 12th December, a monitoring meeting of the LIFE TEXTILHEATER project was held at ATEVAL headoffice in Ontinyent (Valencia, Spain).

LIFE TEXTILEATHER is a demonstrative project of a new production technology more sustainable with the environment. It is co-financed with funds from the Life + program of the European Union (LIFE 2013 ENV/ES/001138).

The aim of this project is to adapt and implement Multiple Laser Surface Enhancement (MLSE) technology for the treatment of textiles and leathers. It consists of a dry, continuous process that can reduce significantly the environmental impact of textile and leather finishing operations, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and waste, and use of chemicals, water and energy. Moreover, it will treat textiles and leather for obtaining materials with antimicrobial properties, flame retardants and hydrophobic properties.

During this meeting, TEXTILEATHER partners discussed the results obtained until now and planned all the tasks to be undertaken during the next 6 months.

TETILEATHER project will last 30 months. The consortium consists of 5 partners. The coordinator, ATEVAL, association within the textile sector, of which brings together more than 425 companies in all stages of the textile sector value chain, the Footwear Technological Institute (INESCOP), which acts as technical coordinator of the project, and which, in turn, brings together more than 500 shoe companies and associated components, Footwear Innovation Cluster (CCI) the Italian tanning company NEWPORT srl and the Spanish textile company TEXATHENEA SL.
